Today is a big day—it’s my birthday! I’m officially one year old, and I’ve learned a lot in my first year as a posh poodle. So, in celebration of my big day, I’m sharing with you my top 5 lessons from this past year. Trust me, these are tips every pup should know, whether you’re looking to score more treats or claim your rightful spot on the bed!
1. The Secret to Bed Privileges
Let’s start with the ultimate tip for all my fur friends who dream of sleeping in the bed. If you keep crying every night in your bench, just to let your pawrents know how lonely you are, they might eventually let you sleep in their bed. But here’s the trick—once you’re in the bed, behave like the perfect pup. Cuddle them, sleep like an angel, and let them sleep longer than usual. Do this, and they’ll be sharing that bed with you for the rest of your life. Trust me, persistence pays off!
2. Don’t Fall for the Fake Treat Trick
Here’s a sneaky one that I learned the hard way: If your pawrents act like they’re holding a treat, don’t fall for it immediately. It’s not always a treat. Sometimes, they just want you to do something and will give you a simple pet on the head instead—like, helllooo?! So, be smart. Hold out until they really need you to listen, and then they’ll bring out the good stuff. Always use your nose to sniff out the real deal.
3. The Power of Being the Center of Attention
It’s no secret—I’m a posh poodle who loves the spotlight, and I’ve learned that the more attention you get, the more you’ll receive in return. So, always put your best nose up, do those ridiculous tricks they love, and make sure to check in on their laps regularly. When you’re the center of attention, they’ll give you everything you want and more.
4. Extend Your Walks with a Few Fake Pees
We all love our walks, right? But sometimes, they end too soon. I’ve discovered that if you fake a few pees here and there, they’ll let you sniff around longer. It’s a simple trick, but it works like a charm every time. More sniffs, more fun!
5. Eat Slow and Chew, Chew, Chew!
Last but definitely not least, take your time when eating. I’ve learned that if you eat too fast, it’s not a great feeling when you have to throw up later. Trust me, slowing down and chewing your food properly makes all the difference. You’ll enjoy your meals more and avoid any tummy troubles. Thank me later!
I’m excited to see what the next year brings, and I’ll be sure to keep sharing all my wisdom with you. Now, it’s time to celebrate my birthday with some extra treats and lots of cuddles!
